Montreal is all beauty, especially in the summer. It’s the ultimate backdrop for a date or as guest blogger Sally puts it, “A Suite Date” - Na’eem

I’m particularly fond of outings in the Old Port of Montreal area. I love its sexy sophistication, its architectural charm, but also the older crowd it draws. Older crowds typically have more clothing on. It’s a perfectly obvious setting for a date if you don’t want to be staring at drunken youngins all night, which I personally don’t.

Recently, I ended up at Suite 701 for a first date on a Friday night. The beautifully molded high ceilings, stunning chandeliers, dim lighting and cool R&B and house music really set the tone and dissipated my jitters. Ok so maybe the raspberry mojito(s) that were as delicious as my date helped a tad as well. It was very difficult to choose a cocktail from their list; from the white sangria to the lychee martinis, Suite 701 drinks are consistently incredible and are, in my opinion, some of the best in the city. I hadn’t had time for supper as I had rushed from a massage appointment (poor me) and I was also able to order a little “cliché first-date salad” entrée at our table as nobody likes a drunk and disorderly date. I was having an amazing time; the music wasn’t too loud so I could hear all his funny jokes. It was as if the DJ was reading my mind when he started playing an old school jam by CeCe Peniston, “Finally” (side note, I can’t believe that’s an actual last name. Second side note, how cheesy am I?).

All in all, Suite 701 is a really great spot to have drinks with your friends or cuddle up with a date. The rooftop terrace in the summer is a definite must-see with the picturesque view of our beloved Montreal and the 5 à 7s are worth bragging about. Oh and as for my date? Hands down, one of the best first dates I’ve ever had.
